Watching the Wheels

Watching the Wheels – John Lennon

People say I’m crazy doing what I’m doing
Well they give me all kinds of warnings to save me from ruin
When I say that I’m okay, well they look at me kind of strange
Surely you’re not happy now – you no longer play the game.
People say I’m lazy dreaming my life away
Well they give me all kinds of advice designed to enlighten me
When I tell them that I’m doing fine watching shadows on the wall
Don’t you miss the big-time boy you’re no longer on the ball
I’m just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round, I just had to let it go.
People asking questions lost in confusion
Well I tell them there’s no problem, only solutions.
Well they shake their heads and they look at me as if I’ve lost my mind
I tell them there’s no hurry I’m just sitting here doing time.
I’m just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry go round, I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go.

  1. *whispers* I’m at work so I can’t play the vid. I love this song and used to sing it to my son when he was a babe in arms. I had a John Lennon Album many years ago and I used to play Love and Mind Games repeatedly…
I must admit though I’m not a big Lennon fan.

    :o) xx

  2. Daff: OH I love John Lennon’s stuff – and the rest of the Beatles. The first albums my mom bought me were Wings greatest hits & Donna Summers. Still have them both – DS is good but WINGS – oh my. My husband & I were listening to Lennon in bed Sunday night and I couldn’t get the song out of my head. LOVE IT!!

Hayden: True – I cant imagine the pressure that puts on a kid. Not sure about Clinton, but Lennon – How could anyone fill those shoes? It’s impossible. Even when the children are exceptional.
